Cargojet Security

Cargojet recognizes and supports the need for increased precautions and heightened awareness of air cargo security. All customers/shippers currently participate in the Transport Canada Known Shipper Program and Cargojet annually renews the participation of all of its customer/shippers and holds certified copies signed by an Authorized Official of the customer/shipper, acknowledging that any shipment tendered to Cargojet has been subject to advanced security screening and/or has not been directed to a specific flight by a customer/shipper who is not a regular customer.

Cargojet does not accept individual shipments from unknown or ad hoc type customers and deals exclusively with freight forwarders, couriers and the transportation division of major manufacturers.

Cargojet has also participated and provided input into Transport Canada’s Ad-Hoc Air Cargo Security Technical Committee, which was formed in October 2005. Transport Canada has indicated that the Air Cargo Security Project has received a budget allocation for the next two years. The purpose of the project is to implement an air cargo security pilot project that will improve upon existing air cargo security requirements, facilitate movement of air cargo internationally, and provide a sound basis for future improvements.
